Description:
Sam was singled out by the British for being ineligible for the pardons they were offering. So he fled to philadelphia. And once he arrived there, he strongly pushed for independence, voted for independence, and signed the Declaration of Independence. After this, he continued to serve in the Continental Congress until 1779. He was one of the primary authors of the Articles of Confederation which was the framework for creating the United States first national government.
