Founded by Ahmet Ertegun, son of a Turkish Diplomat, and Herb Abramson an industry professional in New York City. It was originally famous for its jazz, R&B, and soul recordings. With artists like Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Otis Redding. Atlantic is a major record label to this day and has many platinum Pop artists signed to them.
