27 déc. 1774 - In the late 18th century, French General Jean-Baptiste Vaquette de Gribeauval promoted standardized weapon designs for the french army. This meant that if a part was faulty, it could be swapped out for an identical part instead of a whole new weapon being produced. This made producing parts quicker and less expensive.
