22 mars 1765 - The Stamp Act
Description:
The Stamp Act required a tax on stamps for documents, papers, and playing cards. The imposition of this tax was upsetting for many colonists; however, the actual tax placed on stamps was relatively insignificant. The primary issues that upset colonists were the many new citations, enforcements, and penalties related to taxes that were a part of the Stamp Act. The British monarchy imposed the act in 1765, so colonists pointed the blame at Great Britain.
