8 mai 1945 - Battle of the Atlantic
Description:
The United Kingdom was highly dependent on imported goods. Britain required more than a million tons of imported material per week in order to be able to survive and fight. The Axis powers sought to prevent a build-up of supplies so they would almost choke Britain, which would give them an easier time to invaded and a harder time for Britain to try and fight back. The outcome of the battle was a strategic victory for the Allies because the German blockade had failed, but many ships had been sunk during this long battle
