Queen Elizabeth I, was the reigning queen of England and Ireland during the second half of the 16th century. She was the daughter of Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII, and half-sister of Mary I.

Several wizarding historians have speculated that the Queen's opposition to marriage during her lifetime was because of a jinx placed on her by the first Lucius Malfoy. The likely motive behind his actions was the fact that he had been one of the many men whom Elizabeth turned down. Although this was denied by future Malfoy family generations, most wizarding historians are convinced that Lucius Malfoy I jinxed her.

During her rule, she was seen as the one the greatest ever rulers of England, with her reign being called the "Golden Age".
