Description:

- Took Place on Kings Mountain which had a very rocky terrain
- British Commander- Patrick Ferguson
- American Commander- Issac Shelby
- British forces faced off with Over-mountain Men who were a rowdy bunch '" familiar with the use of horse and rifles"
- American force consisted of 910 men while the British force consisted of 1,125 men
- Result - American Victory
- American forces suffered 90 casualties
- British forces suffered 1,018 casualties
- Thought to be "Turn of the tide of success" - Thomas Jefferson

Sequence of Events -
- September 1780- The British General Cornwallis sends Major Patrick Ferguson to North Carolina to recruit more loyalists and to protect General Cornwallis' flank; Unfortunately, they meet the Overmountain Men, a rowdy bunch of men living in the Carolina Backcountry, who supported the Continental Army
- October 7, 1780 - The British and the Overmountain Men meet head to head in a fierce battle atop Kings Mountain; This battle ended in a victory for the Overmountain men
