If stared at for too long, merely his phantom gets self-conscious of not being stared at, and teleports to stare at him for too long by engaging in a staring contest, but somehow causes the ventilation to go offline, too. After 17 seconds of no longer being ignored, and dominating the staring contest, he manages to put it back in the box.
