George was born in London at Norfolk House. He was the grandson of King George II, and the eldest son of Frederick, Prince of Wales, and Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. King George III became the king of great Britain after his grandfather, King George II Passed away. His grandfather passed away in October 1760, and at the young age of 22, King George III's reign officially begun. However his official coronation took place on September 22 1761. The first years of his reign were marked by political instability, largely generated as a result of disagreements over the Seven Years War.
