Pete Hernandez was indicted for the murder of a white man. Since the jury was all white, he got sentenced for life in prison. Since this was against the 14th amendment, Hernandez and his lawyers went to the Texas Supreme Court. After the court heard their arguments, the court unanimously ruled in favor of Hernandez and required he be retried by a jury without discrimination against Mexican Americans.
