Description:
- Lena Goldfields were unsuccessful mines set up in the Lena region
- In order to save the mines, costs were cut by forcing workers to work 16 hour days, handing out random fines and making the prices for food supplies ridiculously high
- Conditions were unsafe with 70% of the workers suffering serious injury
- Widespread strikes erupted
- Strike committee formed
- Russian soldiers arrived in early April and arrested 11 protesters
- 2500 workers marched on company headquarters demanding their release
- Soldiers then fired on unarmed miners and killed 250 people
