- Nicholas had lost all political and popular authority after leaving for the war front
- Nicholas’s generals and advisors, therefore, recommended he abdicate
- Nicholas signs an abdication document for him and his son on the 2nd of March
- Grand Duke Mikhail abdicates
- 304-year-old Romanov Dynasty ends
- Official Power transferred over to the Provisional Goverment
- As the revolution had been led by the soldiers and workers, the Provisonal Goverment may have had official power, but the Petrograd had the military power
