Danish Astronomer Tycho Brahe, Turkish astronomer Taqi ad-Din, and many others observed a new comet pass through the sky. Brahe proved the comet was further from the Earth than the moon, which contradicted Aristotle's theory that comets were purely atmospheric phenomena.
