2 janv. 1883 - Time Zones

Description:

As railroad popularity grew exponentially, confusion erupted over time zones. This led railroad companies set 'time zones' for more efficiency. Owners of the transcontinental railroads introduced America's four time zones (Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific) to help standardize their operations. This was significant as it was another change in America which would increase efficiency tremendously, and this system is still place today. Standardized Time Zones relates to the Surrender at Appomattox; both events ignited a change in the country that influences America to this day– abolition of slavery and the creation of the four time zones.
