Description:
The Japanese plan to isolate Australians was ruined when the US Pacific forces clashed with the Japanese Navy in May 1942. No surface ships actually exchanged any shots, instead all fighting was done 200 miles apart. Was important because the Japanese plan that could have totally changed the outcome of the war was ruined.
