17 mai 1779 - Robert Gibbes Plantation

Description:

A battalion of British and Hessian troops occupied the Gibbes Plantation. When the news reached Charles Town, two galleys were dispatched to dislodge the British. Ordered to fire on the British emcampment but not the plantation house, Mr Gibbes was unaware so order his wife and children to run to a safe place. They ran through the British encampment and cannon fire until they were safely out of range.
