Brigadier General Francis Marion encountered Major Robert McLeroth bringing up supplies west of the Santee River to the British post in Camden. With only one obscure source for this event, it is most likely that it did not happen, but definitely not on this date. Major Robert McLeroth was cashiered not long after an engagement near the same location on December 12, 1780. So, it is most likely that this engagement has been identified incorrectly.
