Description:

Capt. John McCleur sailed his Virginia privateer Hunter into Charles Town Harbor and took the sloop Brier within full view of the British armed vessels anchored in the harbor. The Hunter was armed with ten carriage guns and fifty men, but did not fire a shot. The Brier was filled with West India produce. Capt. McCleur escaped and escorted his prize into an unnamed North Carolina port.
