22 avr. 1781 - Raid on the Sandy River Settlement

Description:

Brigadier General Thomas Sumter gained retaliation for Capt. John Coffin's April 9th raid of the Waxhaws Church by sending men to burn and kill Loyalists in the Sandy Run and Mobley settlements. The settlements were Loyalist strongholds and the intent was to remove the threat to the local Patriot community. The problem with these two engagements is that the locations are not clearly known as there were several "Sandy Runs" known at that time, and none all that close to Mobley's Meetinghouse.
