The Boxer Rebellion officially supported the peasants uprising that attempted to drive all foreigners from China. Poor peasants and workers did not like privileges granted to foreigners.They also did not like Chinese Christians who now adopted the foreigner faith. The name "Boxer Rebellion" was given to the Chinese by the foreigners when they found out the Chinese had a secret society known as the "Yihequan(Righteous and Harmonious Fists)". The Boxers practice certain boxing and calisthenics(running, standing, grasping, pushing, etc) rituals in the belief that this made invulnerable.
