16 juill. 1781 - Biggins Church Burned

Description:

The fortified Biggins Church was occupied by British Lt Col James Coates 19th Regiment Loyalist SC Rangers mounted infantry. When Patriot Col Edward Lacey's mounted rifleman drove the British back from Wadhoo Bridge, it was a delaying tactic by Lt Col Coates who placed all his supplies in the church. In the middle of the night, Coates burned the church and made his retreat to Charles Town.
