25 mai 1782 - Skirmish at Saltketchers

Description:

Along the Saltketcher River was an active community of Loyalist settlers that were led by Capt. Tenison Cheshire, Capt. Jones, and Capt. Oldfield. A truce was made between the state militia and Loyalist in the area of Three Runs Creek to Matthews' Bluff(Akien County) for three months to allow the planting of crops. Patriots attempted to capture one of the Loyalist, Capt Cheshire with three men at a friend’s house on the Edisto River. It is not confirmed if Capt Cheshire was captured or who violated the truce first.
