Description:

Powder and ball was stored at the fortified plantation of Patriot milirtia commander Col John Thomas Sr. It was learned a large force of NC Loyalist under Maj John Moore was intent on capturing the munitions. Col Thomas and the 25 militia guard departed with as much of the munitions as they could carry. Josiah Culbertson, Col Thomas' son-in-law stayed with the women and childern. When Maj Moor arrived, Culbertson and the family put up such a defensem the Loyalist withdrew.
