Description:

These broke out in 1955 after a Montreal v.s Boston hockey game when Maurice Richards was given a suspension for the remainder of the season and playoffs. This came after a blood spilling fight. The Boston police wanted to arrest Richards for assault but were blocked from the dressing room. Many believed this was a prejudicial decision due to Richards francophone background. Prejudice is relevant in Canadian society because Canada is very multicultural and although it is seen as socially unacceptable it is still acted upon.
