1 nov 1444 av. J.-C. - Egypt's Economy
Description:
Many elements contributed in Egypt's economy with grain being the main focus. Authorities stored the grain for times of bad harvests.
Egypt was mostly self-sufficient, as people would hold goods for the future and/or exchange by barter on the market, which also played a key role in the economy.
Farmers were under a labor tax and were required to work on irrigation or certain construction projects in a form of unpaid labor.
A 1/3 of al the lands were in the hands of the priesthood of Amen and all the administrators, priests, traders, and craftsmen lived in cities along the bank of the Nile.
