Description:
Egyptians invested a lot of time and effort into mining precious metals and gems.
Copper, bronze and iron were expensive in any form and only the wealthy had access to them. The poor used stone and wooden tools.
Stone was quarried for tombs and temples. Netron was mined and used as a cleaning product for the home, the body and for the mummification as a drying agent.
Egyptians began mining for gold using open pits and performing minimal underground excavation.
Green malachite often leached from potential mining sites, and the visible stains of such mineral deposits served as a guide for prospectors
