Description:
The Egyptian and East African fronts of Wavell decided to strike first against the Italians on December 7, 1940. British Major General Richard Nugent O'Connor had 30,000 men against 80,000 Italians, but he outmatched them in tanks, the British having 275 as opposed to 120 tanks of the Italians. In three days, after the British had managed to intercept Italian troops, the British took approximately 40,000 prisoners.
