17 juin 1887 - Interstate Commerce Act

Description:

Passed by Congress with the intention of regulating some of the unfair business practices (shipping rates) charged by monopolistic railroads. It was not very effective in the short run but did mark an important precedent and turning point. The federal government was attempting to regulate and monitor the private capitalistic economy.
