30 avr. 1886 - Wabash v. Illinois

Description:

This Supreme Court case came in response to western farming states who had passed granger laws which set limits on shipping rates railroads could charge for grain. The railroads sued the states claiming these laws were unconstitutional. The court decided, in favor of Wabash, against Illinois ruling that individual states had no power to regulate interstate commerce. Congress responded the following year by establishing the ICC Interstate Commerce Commission.
