Sibley tries to negotiate with little crow but little crow refuse the settlement. By the mid-September Sibley plans to try and defeat the Dakota as soon as possible, Sibley and his troops go up Lone tree lake and camp. The very next morning they were hungry so they search for food but they accidentally spotted a group of Dakota who was prepared to attack Sibley's and his troops. This was the last major battle of the U.S Dakota war of 1862,resulting in a major defeat for the DakotaAjouté au bande de temps:
