Description:
After the establishment of Syria Theme, Leo IV ultimately decided to go south. The Emperor’s army taking Laodicea and Seleucia without a fight, and going further south, the army only met a resistance in Tripoli, but when Leo sent riders north to Laodicea to sail to Cyprus and bring the Imperial navy to the city and blockaded Tripoli, the garrison murdered their commander and opened the gates.
