Description:

After the cold winter of 1862-1863, 260 Dakota men are brought to a compound in Davenport, Iowa and spend the next three years there before being exiled. The Dakota at Fort Snelling are brought by steamboat to new Dakota reservations including, Crow Creek in Dakota Territory, which is a dry place not suitable for farming. Also all treaties are revoked, making it illegal for all Dakota to live in Minnesota.
