9 juill. 1954 - The Geneva Accords

Description:

At the Geneva Conference was attended by the US, Soviet Union, Republic of China, Soviet Union, the Viet Minh and State of Vietnam. The greatest part of this meeting was the establishment of North and South Vietnam. The significance of this split was that it caused the two new nations to work quite separately. In fact, the meeting stipulated to hold an election that would reunify Vietnam under a single democratic leader; this election never occurred. With this, it implied that the two nations took full advantage of the divide in order to spread their ideologies. Once the tentative election rolled around, the two sides were obviously uninterested in allowing the other side to gain support.
