1 janv. 1942 - Aleutian Islands Campaign
Description:
During World War II, Japanese forces landed on Attu and Kiska Islands and occupied them in an attempt to stall US military operations in the Pacific. This lead the the battle of Attu Island in 1943, which included a banzai suicide charge by Japanese soldiers. The US was ultimately able to retake the islands. However, the US government forcefully relocated many indigenous people from these islands without proper resources, a plan to care for them, or a plan to return them to their land.
