1 janv. 1896 - Klondike Gold Rush
Description:
Gold was discovered by Skookum Jim and his family by the Klondike River in Yukon, CA. This over 100,000 prospectors to Alaska and an influx of commerce. This had mixed results as it brought greater access to western goods and services, but also eroded the cultures and traditions that were in place. Ultimately, many 'gold rush' towns such Skagway, Circle and Valdez remain today while other settlements faded out when the rush was over. (people/land)
