Description:
Because Japan wanted to keep pursuing territorial expansion in Asia, it decided to openly refuse to abide by terms set in the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922. The treaty limited Japan's navy to 315,000 total tonnage, while it only limited the United States and Britain to a total tonnage of 525,000. Japan didn't like being viewed as a lesser power than that of America or Britain, and thus directly violated the treaty. Japan even commissioned the largest battleship ever, the 65,000 ton Yamato (pictured). However, Japan's plan backfired on them, and the disintegration of this treaty led to the biggest naval fleet in the world: the United States'.Ajouté au bande de temps:
