2 août 1934 - Hindenburg Dies
Description:
Paul von Hindenburg, President of the Weimar Republic, died in Poland. His death led to the end of the Republic and Hitler's succession as Fuhrer (supreme leader) of Germany. Technically, the law that Hitler passed stating that he was to become the leader was illegal because of the Enabling Act of 1933 (this was a law that wouldn't allow Hitler to alter the presidency). But now, Hitler became the law and no one objected him. This was a clear sign of where things would be heading in Germany.
