23 déc. 1631 - Sir John troubled by the 8th Earl of Argyl
Description:
Sir John was severely troubled by the 8th Earl of Argyll who wanted his wealth and properties. The Earl trumped up false charges against John and held him prisoner in various locations during 1631 – 1634 while extorting “fines” of money and lands from him.
Details are provided in the July 1661 Act of the Old Scottish Parliament describing the extortions and crimes by the Earl who was eventually executed in 1661 for treason against the King.
