Description:

Kit Coleman was the woman journalist to be in power of her own department of a Canadian newspaper. Around the 1880s-1890s, she was extremely popular among woman due to her running a 7 column page called "woman's Kingdom". Coleman didn't just write about fashion or cooking, she wrote anything that interested her like politics or theatre criticism. It was hard for Coleman to keep writing because around that time woman were pushed away and men were usually the ones to have the better jobs. Coleman really blew up when in 1898 she went to Cuba to report about the Spanish-American war. She was the first woman in history to be an accredited war correspondent.
