Description:

A convention is called in Omaha, Nebraska . During this convention the People's Party is created and their platform put forward . Their platform of eight tenets .
The eight proposals were a graduated income tax , the guarantee of safe deposit of money in banks. As well as the adoption of secret ballot ,initiative and referendum , and limiting presidents to one term , direct election of senators to congress .
Lastly there was a proposal to limit immigration and one advocating for the public ownership of railroads, telephone, telegraph lines . This ambitious platform would be implemented to a degree over the years . Although not everything was implemented into law . The purpose behind everything on this platform was to forge a better world for the common man or in this case specifically farmers .
