On June 3rd and 4th terrorists launched a series of grenade attacks on civilian targets in Serenity Town. The attacks occurred in the Harpo and Chico market places. First responders to the scene of carnage were greeted by a second round of grenade attacks designed to inflict maximum damage to the civilian population. At least 136 people are believed dead on the scene; seven of them were ambulance rescue personnel. An additional 27 more people are in hospital. A witness on the scene described the carnage: “It was a surreal. There were bodies and body parts everywhere. I saw a family near the center of the explosion. There was a flash of light and they were gone. I mean they were completely gone.” Later in the day on June 4 there was an improvised explosive device attack on a military convoy on Freedom road, along the Valley of Peace.
