Leon Trotsky was an agitator and a theorist during the Russian Revolution. Trotsky led the Reds in the October Revolution in 1917. Later, from 1917 to 1924, he became a commissar of war and foreign affairs in the Soviet Union. In January 1989, Trotsky was arrested and exiled to Siberia for four and a half years for his revolutionary activities. In 1902, he escaped Siberia and went to London, where he joined a group of Russian Social-Democrats.
