Earth Day was created on April 20th, 1970. Throughout the growing industrialization and urbanization cities began to grow in the amount of pollution they produced. At the time no laws existed to control these increasing levels of pollution. Earth Day was created to raise awareness of the issue and force it onto the National Agenda.
