First declared an act of Congress unconstitutional, thus establishing the doctrine of judicial review

Established the power of the supreme courts to declare legislative and executive acts UNCONSTITUTIONAL

Marbury not able to get Judiciary spot because of Midnight Appointments. Madison (Sec of State at the time) ordered by Jefferson not to deliver appointments to make the judges real.
