19 juin 1963 - JFK Submits Bill
Description:
The events in Birmingham inspired President John F. Kennedy to propose what would later become the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The president called the racial prejudice in the nation a “moral crisis.” Once passed, the legislation that the president proposed to address this crisis would put an end to de jure segregation in all public places. As a result, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 came into place.
