1 janv. 1951 - Ban of the Potlatch repealed [1951]
Description:
Potlaches were elaborate gift-giving feasts held by most Northwest Coast Aboriginal groups. They were banned in 1884 because they were seen as wasteful and reckless by the federal government. By the time the ban was repealed in 1951, traditional identities and social relationships had already been ruined.
