Description:

On October 1, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong officially founded the People’s Republic of China at Tiananmen Square. Mao came to power after the end of the Chinese Civil War, between the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The significance of this event is that Mao Zedong established China as a communist state.
