June 25th, 1950 - July 27th, 1953After World War II, Korea was split at the 38th parallel with a pro-communist nation in the North and a pro-capitalist nation is the South. With growing tensions between North and South Korea and with desire to unify, North Korea invaded South Korea. Eventually the war came to a stalemate. This event is significant as it demonstrated that the United States was willing to prevent the spread of communism.
