July 1st, 1991With economic downturn plaguing Eastern Europe and more political reform being introduced by Gorbachev, on July 1st, 1991, the Warsaw Pact dissolves as Eastern European countries had withdrawn of all military exercises. The pact official dissolved in March and July of 1991. This event is import because it’s an example of the Soviet Union’s decline in the late 20th century.
