April 26th, 1986The Chernobyl Disaster was an incident at a nuclear power plant near the town of Chernobyl. Due to flaw in the design of the reactor, reactor 4 in the power plant exploded and the power plant went into meltdown. This event was significant because many historians believe that this is a contributing fact to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
